Can You tell me which one of them is the best ?

  1. Depauw University
  2. Mercer University
  3. Manhattanville College
  4. University of Hartford
  5. Northeastern University
  6. Penn State
i want to go to study in US after school, and since these have been refereed to me by my school, therefore i can trust these universities

Depends on what you're studying. I've only even heard of 1 and 6.

I've also only heard of the first and sixth ones. I actually got an advertisement from Depauw University yesterday in the mail giving me a special priority application opportunity.

I've heard of the sixth one only, and this is from the West Coast. So Penn State is known a little bit around here. Not sure which one out of the six is the best though.

that's call early notice, if u participate in that then they will tell your status before hand before the final result.
even i got this offer.

Computer engineering? Go to MIT! THAT, my friend, is a computer engineering school :D

http://web.mit.edu/

MIT is the best i know, but do you know how tough is it to get in, plus only a handful of international students are selected for MIT ( and i come in international ), and i am not that super rich or intelligent to become one of those handful internatioal MITian's, even though i will try at least once to get in.

till now i got good reviews for Depauw and Penn and Northeastern.

Average scholarships (grants) for international students at MIT are roughly equal to the costs of studying there, so money shouldn't be an issue for international students, if you manage to get in. The main problem with MIT for international students is the whole load of forms you need to fill in + sitting SAT tests, which are however quite easy. (I'm not sure about the American system, but are SAT tests the end of school tests? Since they seem even easier than British exams.)

Edit:// Forgot you also have to arrange separate interviews for MIT... Luckily you can usually have them locally.

course? :dunno:

please always read the posts earlier posted, i had already mentioned computer engineering / science or anything related computers, please don't mention stanford, yales or MIT, because they are too tough for me to get it. they require hundreds of applications, certificates in co-curricular activities and etc.. etc..
even though i will give them a shot

university of rochester
I live in Rochester and I've heard great things about the University of Rochester. The only problems I've heard about it is that it's hard to transfer credits.

I don't know about their computer-related majors though.

and what do u mean by course credits

When you take a class you get a certain amount of "credit" for them. Usually, you can tell by the class number. If you're taking BIO 102:
1 - First year class
0 - I forget what it means :D
2 - 2 credits!

Generally, a 2 credit class would mean you go to that class for 2 hours a week, which may be multiple days or one day all at once. You need to accumulate a certain amount of credits to earn a degree. I believe it's around 100 - 150, but I think it varies based on university and major/minor.

Usually, if you earn credit(s) at another university you would want to transfer them to your current university so you don't have to take a class again. However, because every university is different on how the class is designed and some vary in credit value for that class, some credits will not be acceptable from one university to another!

For example, my sophomore year of college, I dropped out of Calculus 204 because I had a heavy course load (18 credits total). I took the class at a different university and asked my first university to transfer the credits so I didn't have to take the class again.

Edit:
and what do u think about university of michigan, sorry for asking about each and every institute that i come across since my parents would be investing a lot of money ( rs. 25 lakhs approx or $ 50,000 approx ) i want it to be invested in good university rather than a c or d grade college.
