My site whstech.x10.mx is giving database error on connect. I looked at cpanel and it shows I'm over quota but I thought free was unmetered? I did add a bunch of moodle backup files yesterday which I have no way of removing since the site is down and I can't connect to my MySQL database either. Please look at and advise.

Thanks,

Tom

You are on Vox and apparently the mySQL on Vox is acting up again -- so it is not just your account.

Thanks for the update. I appreciate the response. Any word when the fix will take place? I have a Moodle site for my classes that is used on a daily basis for student work so any ETA of getting it back functioning would be great.

Still waiting to see if mySQL issue is fixed so I can use all the features of my moodle site. Stll get permission error: "Invalid permissions detected in $CFG->dataroot directory, administrator has to fix permissions." Any thoughts/help for resolve?

MySQL should be up and running, but you may be running into other issues. Honestly, Moodle isn't a great fit for Free Hosting; it can barely run in bare-bones mode in the memory space you're allotted under a very light load, and most of the more useful modules require execution privileges you don't have on a Free Hosting account.

You don't "have" a virtual server, just a user account on a web server you're sharing with a lot of other user accounts. Everyone is running the same server and PHP process. Rebooting means rebooting the whole server (actually, multiple physical machines, since the Free Hosting servers are clustered).

Hello whstech,

"Invalid permissions detected in $CFG->dataroot directory, administrator has to fix permissions."
This error message sounds like it isn't a MySQL issue at all, but a file permission issue. You should ensure that you have set your files/folder's permissions correctly in your File Manager based on how Moodle once it. Be aware though, you can't just set all your permissions to 777 - this will not work.

Thank you,
