wordpress doesn't send email confirmation

I set up wordpress easily, and the first time I set it up, I got an email confirmation.
When I added buddypress, and set up test accounts, no confirmations came. And yes, I checked the spam accounts, and tried several different email hosts.

I removed wordpress, and the database, and started over, and no email confirmation on setup.

Not sure what the problem could be, or what I can do to fix.

I've tried setting up an email account, and sending fails.

it seems fixed.

There's nothing showing in the error log, but one of the test emails (just now) to yahoo didn't get there, and one did, the test account on wordpress worked perfectly.
