Any idea what type of resources that takes up?

cpu, memory requirements for a full server.

last time x10gaming was up a wow server ran on it, which took ALOT of resources (cpu and memory) but there were more problems with the emulator itself than the lack (if any) of the needed resources.

I believe MUDs might be a relatively low resource intensive game server to host. For those who aren't familiar with them, they are basically text based games that people can play on. There is a pretty large community of this type of gamers that can be found over the net.

As far as resources go, a small one wouldn't even take up a few megabytes of space, and depending on how efficient the code is, probably a smaller amount of RAM and much less CPU power would be needed.

I think even if game hosting for any of the larger, and more resource intensive games falls through, it might be worth it to consider having a MUD host - I believe it can generate a good deal of traffic, and quickly, as there are consolidated forums and resource sites, such as www.mudconnect.com, that a single ad for free hosting would probably lead to a pretty large turn out.

Try ventrillo... I prefer it to teamspeak... lower bitrate higher quality.

Would we be able to control the servers? Or would they just have certain games on them that we would be able to play on?

The x10 Game Server is online.

Still trying to figure out exactly what we're doing but we will be hosting some x10 games and also letting users run their own servers.
