Hey there. I'm currently hosted on Absolut. I've noticed that everyday about this time absolut comes to a crawl as server load goes sits around 10-15. This has been going on for about a week, if not more. Any idea why this is? Can it be alleviated?

It's not an encryption, but if you're just using it for a Captcha might I recommend you investigate PHP Sessions? They're exactly what you need to make a captcha work without revealing anything on the webpage.

You want a captcha. I'll grant that some websites go really OTT (Rapidshare had one which was impossible, even for a person!) but for the most part they're a good way of stopping bot-spam. http://www.white-hat-web-design.co.uk/articles/php-captcha.php <-- Nice tutorial + code.
