My x10hosting username is "forumsx5".
I can't connect to FTP, I get this error - 421 Home directory not available - aborting
I can't even make new FTP accounts. When I use the cPanel file managers, there seems to be no home directory or anything. If I try to create a public_html directory, it says I can't, because "directory /home/forumsx5/ does not exist"...
Please help.
Thanks.

Sounds like the home directory wasn't set to the correct one.

I have no control over that. I'm connecting to ftp.forums.x10.mx which is my domain. No ftp accounts show under cPanel, and if I try to add one, it says it was added, but doesn't appear there or let me connect to it in FileZilla. If I try to create it again with the same username, it says it exists, yet it doesn't show there.

Exactly. Something must've happened. According to the error you've given, the actual account directory is gone which is very strange.
Linux stuff.

A community support member should be able to correct this issue.

Can you please try again now?
Hey, yeah I'm still getting "421 Home directory not available - aborting" in FileZilla, my FTP username and password are working and being accepted, though.

I need the public_html directory re-added. It was deleted for some reason, by itself.

When was the last time you opened your account? There is literally no trace of your account anywhere on our systems.

I've recreated you an account... however any files or databases you had are gone.

I think I was suspended for inactivity, but I reactivated, and then this happened. This error thing happened like a month ago but I just got around to posting in the forums about it today.

It is still saying to me that public_html does not exist. You told me that public_html does exist so that is not the issue (in your post in this thread that you deleted), but the server is clearly telling me that it does not exist.

When I try to create a file:

We're aware of this issue. It's partially related (right now) to the login system maintenance that occurred last night.

public_html missing is related to your login system? This issue occurred about a month ago and is still the same, so I don't see how login system maintenance from last night has anything to do with an issue from a month ago. I've read other threads and it simply seems that just public_html is missing and an admin needs to recreate it. It got deleted somehow. That would make the FTP work, because the home directory seems to be set to public_html.

It is not missing.

Your account is located on two servers, and currently the logon system is pointing you to the wrong server.

Hi trash4778, it appears on November 23rd your home directory was renamed. However, the account itself remained intact. I've corrected the problem and your account is back online fully.

I'm not certain on the reason why the home directory was renamed.. I'll need to look into that further.

Please take a look and let us know if you see any continued problems.

Thanks, my files now show in the File Manager, but my domain displays a 404 error when going to it or trying to access any file uploaded.

Hi,

There was an issue with your domain's DNS record. I have corrected this, and your site should now be loading fine. :)

If you continue to have issues loading your site, this may be due to DNS propagation. In which case, you may be able to hurry the process by clearing your cache and flushing your DNS. ;)

Thank you,

Welp, there's an issue still.
My homepage displays this. My database settings are correct in my config file.

Hi,

Please could you verify that you have assigned your database user to your database in cPanel? :)

Thank you,

Thank you,
 Don't know how I could have forgotten that! I've done this hundreds of times but this time I was in a rush and guess I forgot to do that step! Thanks!

Hi,

I am unable to login to my FTP (username:sargasx1) it shows an error message: "421 Home directory not available - aborting | Could not connect to server". All was good 2 days ago and all of a sudden this happened. My website (http://sargas.x10host.com/) only shows a blank page with ("index/") text. Please guys / admins I need your help ASAP. Thanks in advance!
