Well.. someone would be terribly ashamed if they're caught visiting some naughty and inappropriate websites, right? :D But for me, I wouldn't since, I only check emails and school stuff and my anime list everytime I go surfing the nets. :3

I heard some countries in asia bans sites like youtube and proxies and things. I think it has to do with the politics

You've got that right. It's mainly out there to help protect the government, and is also another reason why companies like these who work on a global level do not condone bad talk about goverments. In the US, as far as I know they cannot legally block websites without letting users know andof course, running it through the government.

Not at all, if I do something stupid on a torrent site or something I always clear my history ;). It's something everyone should do anyway really.

I think your ISP can save your history. I'm sure mine does. Those damn unethical rogers isp. lol I clear my history all the time. They contacted us once about downloading illegal stuff from a web site. So they must keep history logs of users.

I'm certain that in Canada, and the US they cannot legally block web sites. Although my ISP does block certain things on a web site I go to. Not allowed to use chat at all, they block the port it uses. :(

There should come an EU law next year for every EU country that all ISPs must cache and log everything you do on the internet for 1 year

Not really, it clears itself every time I exit either of my browsers.

So I guess I'm clean. ;D

What? Why? Absolutely not. Certain things should be private, like IM conversations and emails. Which I'm certain my ISP does take a look at. There just that evil. Ever since they figured out how to redirect there customers away from web sites to there web site.

I think they should be able to log download history/browsing history maybe, but nothing more than that. They shouldn't be able to log what information you enter on any website. Also they shouldn't be able to log anything related to instant messaging either.

Some of the US ISPs recently got busted for using NebuAD technology, basically a thing for ISPs to make more money off of user's browsing habbits by placing deep packet inspection equipment on the connection and seeing what the user browses at a lot, and then injecting ads into the site from the ISP based on whar you browse. The FCC is ultimately putting a stop to it right now. Glad my ISP didn't do that.

EDIT: By the way, some people over at DSL Reports used programs which loaded up random pages and sites. Imagine what that did to NebuAD and screwing up the equipment.

I'm not surprised that ISPs have tried that. To be honest, I'm surprised that mine (Rogers) hasn't tried to that.

It depends on what type of browsing history I have. If I have adult sites, then yes I would be embarrased, lol.
