Mine's heavily skewed, I'll explain why after the image:


I'm on 5MegaBit, it should be showing about 5Mb/sec up, but Charter started that whole speed-boost thing now so for short bursts, it goes about 5x as fast. Hence the 24.

Still like it though.

Glad to see you've finally gotten Fiber Optic internet to replace your old connection vigge! I recall you telling me about that being available a few months ago on the x10 IRC. Fiber Optic Internet has moved three more miles towards me, so it's literally two miles away. For the most part the fastest Symmetrical package I'll be able to get from that is 35Mbps/35Mbps, but I can also get a 50Mbps/20Mbps package and it's rumored that there may be a 50Mbps/50Mbps package being cooked up by my current ISP for that fiber service. The only thing I can do for now is sit and wait while my DSL line moves along. If only my sync rate for the DSL modem could be uncapped too. I'd be able to handle the max sync rates ADSL2+ has to offer since the DSLAM is sitting on my lawn and is fiber fed.

Here is however, my speed test taken from http://ndt.iupui.lga01.measurement-lab.org:7123/ which is an NDT server (Vastly superior to flash tests). This was taken with IPv4 addresses even though I can use IPv6 to this server just to compare better with the above results.

That looks to be a bit low for a Comcast connection. I'd expect it to be faster if you've got DOCSIS 3.0 in your area. Do you know what package you have?

@adamparkzer: T* lines are overrated these days. Telephone company already had their fun with those. Fiber is the new age for speed :biggrin:

In other countries such as Japan, South Korea and Sweden you can for the cost you'd buy a DSL/Cable line in the US can get a fiber line that runs at 100Mbps+. For me to get a symmetrical 100Mbps line here via the fiber optic cable going to the DSLAM on my lawn (has several unused pairs), I'd be paying the cheapest provider at LEAST $500 monthly. Of course, I'd also be paying for max availability with no "Best Effort" service to the backbone; eg. Dedicated Line.

Lots of things. Since I have so many PCs and devices on my network here I'd easily run a few game servers, maybe a web server or two and have it also take on my home's normal network load.
