Hi,
I had to upgrade on the double deal twice due to the large file size which exceeded my webspace:
http://x10hosting.com/upgrade.php.

I was slightly confused if this is the premium hosting or not, but it seems it is still classed as free hosting as it was only a 'one time fee' . I may need to login or post once every 30 days.

Anyway, the problem i am having is connecting to x10hosting server to upload my website files which gomarc very kindly managed to arrange in order.

I am using CoreFtp as recommended by gomarc, but cannot seem to establish a connection.
I created my ftp account from cpanel and input the details given: username, password, ftp

* FTP Username: blog@ata.x10hosting.com
* FTP Server: ftp.ata.x10hosting.com
* FTP Server Port: 21

I get the following message:

Welcome to Core FTP, release ver 2.1, build 1625 (U) -- © 2003-2009
WinSock 2.0
Mem -- 1,963,792 KB, Virt -- 2,097,024 KB

Resolving ftp.ata.x10hosting.com...
Connect socket #732 to 69.162.111.26, port 21...
Can't establish connection --> ftp.ata.x10hosting.com:21 @ Thu Nov 19 17:44:50 2009 (0-5)

I assume the servers are in good standing, can admin or anyone tell me what i need to do.

Thanks.

use your cpanel username as ftp username
use your site address as ftp host
use your cpanel password as ftp password

I also had some problems connecting with core ftp lately...
Try filezilla !

Hello,
I tried using Filezila with cpanel username/password and website as host. Still no connection.
I even disabled my antivirus in case that is the reason. But no difference.

Your FTP host should be ftp.YOURCPANELNAME.x10hosting.com (don't forget the ftp. at the beginning)

That is what i typed in:

Status: Resolving address of ftp.ata.x10hosting.com
Status: Connecting to 69.162.111.26:21...
Error: Connection timed out
Error: Could not connect to server
Status: Waiting to retry...
Status: Resolving address of ftp.ata.x10hosting.com

Error: Connection timed out
Error: Could not connect to server

I logged into cpanel to check if username/password works and it's fine.

Don't give incorrect information. The host does not necessarily include the cPanel name as a lot of the users don't have their cPanel name set to be same as their sub domain.

As for the connection issues to ftp, I'll check with a server tech if there's something they know of that could cause an issue and get back to you as soon as I know something

I always thought the cpanel username automatically set to your subdomain...:dunno:

The tech didn't see anything wrong, but restarted the ftp service just to be sure.

Do you still have problem logging in?

No it's not automatically the same, you can set them to be different during sign-up. Also you can at any point chose to change your sub domain, but your cPanel name will stay the same.

I tried logging into cpanel and it works fine. Tried reconnecting and still the same message:

Status: Resolving address of ftp.ata.x10hosting.com
Status: Connecting to 69.162.111.26:21...
Error: Connection timed out
Error: Could not connect to server

username: ata
port 21
I ran cc cleaner to clean out tmp files from cache earlier on, but still no difference.
Edit:
It seems the issue cannot be resolved.
I may have to submit a support ticket.

I now also have a problem but have had an account on cossacks for 18 months and no problems this far - don't understand.

Maybe server is busy.

Hi ata.online,

You should no longer be experiencing this problem anymore. I am going to close this thread to mark it as resolved.
