Cpanel FTP accounts

After i create an account using cpanel if my main domain is http://yoursite.x10hosting.com what will i type into my browser to log in to that ftp account?

You need a ftp client. Your browser probably does not support ftp.

But, either way, it's ftp://yoursite.x10hosting.com

as a side note if taha116 uses FIreFox then ther is a nifty FTP plugin for it called FireFTP - I use it myself and it is quite good.

To connect to your FTP account either use Opera with built-in FTP support, FireFTP extension for Firefox or download free FileZila FTP Client. You can find all of them by simple google searching.

Now go to your cPanel and under "Files" section you will find "FTP Accounts" icon. Click on it and it'll open your FTP accounts manager.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page to see if there's any FTP accounts in the list. If not you can find "Add FTP Account" form on the top of the page.

When you have your account created (or you use the one that's already there) under "Functions" column of the table you can find "Configure FTP Client" icon (last on the right). Click on it and it'll open a page with configuration parameters.

Choose your FTP client or follow the "Manual Settings" from the bottom of the page to configure your FTP Client.

For a default account (if any) FTP password is same as your cPanel password but you can change it on the Account Management table (icon next to "Configure FTP Client" I mention previously).

not really off the top of my head. really be careful with the site settings and make sure you make them relative to your site root or it will wreak havoc on all your links making them relative to your document folders lol.

I just finished setting mine up with Contribute so I have rollback features and everything...sometimes i get carried away and then goof and don't know where to fix it....rollback FTW!!!
