So my previous thread: http://forums.x10hosting.com/free-hosting/109918-cron-stopped-working.html#post628068 was closed and I didn't really get any help. Instead I'm being redirected to support ticket, to which I have no access ("Fatal error: ERROR: You do not have access to this Ticket. in /home/support/public_html/modules/tickets/client_tickets.php on line 172"). Apart from the confirmation on opening the ticket, I haven't heard from your staff and it's been over a day now. What am I supposed to do then? Cron jobs are absolutely necessary for my website. As I already said: I DIDN'T CHANGE A THING IN THE CRON TAB AND IT STOPPED WORKING ON ITS OWN. It doesn't even send any output to my email so it has nothing to do with commands I use. The problem is obviosuly on your side.

My hosting account is excatly the same as this one (username AND password).
I did receive some weird password in that confirmation email, but if I use it I get "Invalid Username or Password" instead. So what is it excatly for?

Edit:
Hello, anybody there? If you cannot help me with cron jobs, please at least explain to me how I can access the support ticket (http://support.x10hosting.com/index.php?_m=tickets&_a=viewticket&ticketid=18085) that was created.

I tried all possible combinations of username/email/password, but none worked. When I use login data from the confirmation email I get
ERROR: You do not have enough permissions to access this page. Please log in by entering your e-mail address and password.
and with my hosting account:
Fatal error: ERROR: You do not have access to this Ticket. in /home/support/public_html/modules/tickets/client_tickets.php on line 172

Hello, we'll discuss this here as the support ticket seems to be a little buggy. What is the error you're getting in your cron jobs, lets see if we can get this fixed for you. :)

1. I use cron jobs (run every 6 minutes) to update my website
2. The website was updated on 20-01-2010
3. The website was NOT updated on 21-01-2010
4. I did NOT log on to my account between 20-01-2010 and 21-01-2010
5. On 24-01-2010 I turned on sending cron output to my email
6. I did NOT get any emails

What's the command you're using for the cron?

Can you please give the exact cron command you're trying to execute. We cannot provide support without the information we need to look into the issue. Why bother posting a support thread if you're not willing to provide the information for us to help you?

If the cron command is invalid (wrong path to perl or php etc), then the cron daemon is supposed to send out an email. He is saying that the email is not even being sent.

@Hellsheep
The crontab entry was:
*/6 * * * * php -f /home/szklarsk/public_html/int_main_job.php
Happy now? Why bother asking questions if you're not willing to actually read and understand answers.

@Boss is the Best
Nope, there is no email in the spam folder either. Anyway, I already said that the website updates stopped, so it's quite obvious to me that cron daemon doesn't run my commands at all.

Edit:
Hellsheep, where are you? Where is the support you wanted to give? I really can't understand how they make an account manager a person that doesn't actually read users' posts and as it appeared doesn't even know how basic utilities work. So weird...

I would also like to thank Twinkie for closing my original thread and redirecting me to the support ticket, to which I had no access, and thereby forcing me to make duplicate threads.http://forums.x10hosting.com/members/twinkie.html

Special thanks to Boss is the Best, http://forums.x10hosting.com/members/boss-is-the-best.html who didn't even bother to post a reply when he finally found out what was the problem: http://forums.x10hosting.com/free-hosting/110073-cron-jobs-stoli.html#post629174.

And thank you all for "reading" my posts and "not treating" me like an idiot. I'm so glad that when I wrote in THE VERY SECOND post that it was a server issue you actually checked on it, what saved me all the time needed to reply to pointless questions.

First of all: All account managers do this on their spare time, it's a voluntary job. We don't have all the answers to everything. And we certainly don't have access to check everything on the servers.

Boss is the Best is a community member who is trying to help, he don't have access to all aspects of the backend system. It is possible that it is related to the work being done to the servers, but it could also be a completely different cause.

Twinkie did what she was supposed to do, if it's a matter that requires an administrator to be sorted, the threads are to be escalated into a ticket area. She would not have known that you would get issues reaching it.

I don't have the answer either, only the administrators have a accurate answer to if this is an unfortunate side effect of work being done, or something else. I will try and direct an administrator to this thread, but as Corey pointed out in the thread about the changes/upgrades (http://forums.x10hosting.com/news-announcements/110021-latest-news.html) the time to get a reply from administrators will be longer then normally.

Ps. this is the cron command that has always worked for me, not sure that would be the answer to your problems though: /usr/bin/php -q /home/cpanel/path/to/cronjob.php

Gee, I realize this very well. I happen to do a similar voluntary work. But this is no excuse for NOT reading what others have to say. Before posting here I tried every possible thing that I could do on my side, so I was pretty sure it was a server issue. I even suspected it had something to do with ongoing upgrades as I said in the very beggining of the discussion and basically I only waited for you to confirm it. One could imagine you should have better knowledge of what is going on on your servers.

Well, he obviosuly didn't try to suggest in my thread that it might be the same problem as tana21's, when she mentioned exactly the same date (21-01) as I did.

Twinkie did what she was supposed to do, if it's a matter that requires an administrator to be sorted, the threads are to be escalated into a ticket area. She would not have known that you would get issues reaching it.
So it's me who had issues? Oh, I'm so sorry for not being able to get thorugh your buggy support system. Another thing you have no idea of - non-working support tickets.

But you are supposed to know a lot more than us, users seeking help here. So you should be able to connect dots. Instead you keep asking all those pointless questions.

Ps. this is the cron command that has always worked for me, not sure that would be the answer to your problems though: /usr/bin/php -q /home/cpanel/path/to/cronjob.php
Yeah, sure. Another one trying to help without actually listening. I can understand you are very busy bla bla bla, but if you don't have time to read previous posts, why do you even join the discussion??

I'm going to set this straight, there was a post a while ago about users being rude, we don't have time for them. It's a free hosting provider, and while we try our best to provide support, it causes a security problem to have everyone having root access to servers. When you posted your thread, not one single other person had an issue with it. So we try our best to troubleshoot issues that may be on the users end, since no one else was experiencing it. Last of all, to be brutally honest, if you don't like our buggy support system and our useless support, go else where. No one is forcing you to stay.

The server issues will be looked into and solved asap.

Thread Closed.
