Try using the following ip address "you'll find this ip address in your cpanel When you login to setup your site"
198.91.81.3

the Dsn server's are correct

ns1.x10hosting.com
ns2.x10hosting.com

I'm a free service user mysoft and had this same question. Hope this helps you.

good luck

Am i wrong in assuming we don't use the above and for me at least i should be using:
198.91.86.51

You are wrong.

The DNS entry tells the world "Look at this address that contains an address book. That address book will contain the IP address for this domain"

It does not say "This is the IP address for this domain"

You want to enter the addresses of the "phone books" when the Web can look up the actual IP address.

The addresses you enter are ns1.x10hosting.com and ns2.x10hosting.com . You do not enter the IP address for your account.

When you add the domain to your account, the system will tell ns1.x10hosting and ns2.x10hosting.com "I just added mywonderfulsite.com. Please add it to your address book with IP XXX.XXX.XXX.xxx ."

Lastly, 198.91.86.51 is the IP address for the Illuminated server. Unless you paid for Illuminated service, it is not your IP. Period. (Gently remove my foot from my mouth, as I was able to find out you are on Illuminated. It is just that some have seen the post about the IP change on Illuminated and think that all free servers have that IP -- and the rest of my post is valid -- you enter the x10 nameservers, not the IP of your server).

The only way you would use the IP of your server is:
1) Set the nameservers to x10hosting's via your registrar's tools
2) Add domain to account
3) Go back to registrar and switch to their nameservers (or a 3rd party)
4) Using the registrar's/third party's tools, set the A (for Address) record to the IP of your server
5) Note that if x10hosting changes the IP of your server, the Web will not be able to find your site until you go back and manually update the A record

My third party domain doesn't like name servers only ip address for some reason .That's why i think the ip address is better then using name server's .

cPanel normally forces you to set nameservers anyway and doesn't accept A records, to confirm the domain is actually yours. We highly recommend users initially use nameservers instead, though A records do work too. :)

Who is your registrar? Name servers should always be used...

I have nine (9) domains at [ dot.tk ] that I use on this and other hosts - they all use name-servers without a IP
