How fast is your internet?

I'm on dialup. Can't yet afford broadband.

Broadband is actually very cheap. Back when I got it, DSL was cheaper than dial-up, and it still is if I had the slowest plan. Of course I've upgraded the speed a few times to suit my needs for bandwidth. Otherwise, ask the cable/phone company where you are about their slowest plan. There should be something very close to your dial-up's prices.

I pay for 3, i get 2.5, pretty standard.

if i went for 6, id proibly get 5 megs.

LOL he has the 768k/128k package. I used to have that package years ago. I outgrew up the upload though so I've been boosting my speed ever since.

You should get FiOS.

FiOS may not be where he is yet. It's not where I am yet but it seems to be coming literally 400 feet from my home.

Here is my work one. I am based in Plano, but our IP seems to resolve to Auburn Hills MI. So, I did 2 tests. If I connect to the connection that bypasses the firewalls, I will probably get a faster speed. but since I didn't have access to that connection, I couldn't test it.

Here's the speed test of my family relative's connection. They have FrontierNet DSL. 3Mbps/386kbps package (slowest in their area).

Download Speed: 3131 kbps (391.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 380 kbps (47.5 KB/sec transfer rate)

I'll do it for my relative's connection, but for my home, not going to happen since I never get accurate results on Speedtest.net's test. Speakeasy.net, DSL Reports and VisualWare all give good, accurate tests though at my house, but it's probably because all of my local servers are bottle necked on Speedtest.net or Flash is screwed up. My friends have the same problem with them as well and use Speakeasy.

But for kicks, here's what Speedtest.net says for my relative's connection. Of course the latency is higher than it is in reality.
