You could set it up on your computer at home. And I don't belive linux is needed, it will probably work with windows/mac too

If you just want to broadcast your voice only in that case you can use just JetAUDIO 6 or later version which is having an option to broadcast your voice over internet. For this you will be provided a web link which is needed to be followed by your users. But for this kind of setup, you must need a DAMN GOOD FAST Internet Connection. Otherwise voice quality and delivery will be the poorest.

If you're thinking of the ay x10 does it here, I think they use Shoutcast to stream their music.

yeah. just download ShoutCAST from http://shoutcast.com/license

if its linux, the linux version to download

Then:

2. Gunzip the distribution and un-tar the archive.

3. Use a text editor to configure the sc_serv.conf file (Please see the SHOUTcast DNAS application section of the Documentation page for more information on what each field in this config file means ).

4. Note that the user you run the server as requires read access to the config file, and write access for the files you define for file storage and log storage.

The configuration parameters and what they all mean, including how you can choose whether to make your station public are explained in the Documentation.

Thats how we do it at x10radio.com

you will also have to use a program called WinAmp (http://www.winamp.com/player)

and use the shoutcast DSP plugin which can be downloaded from

Linux: http://yp.shoutcast.com/downloads/sc_trans_posix_040.tgz

Windows: http://yp.shoutcast.com/downloads/shoutcast-dsp-1-9-0-windows.exe

Then follow the instructions at http://shoutcast.com/download to install.

Hope I helped!

Shoutcast is quite handy. Or you can use Icecast but you would needs some port forwarding and things like doing.
