I'm trying to set up my site here on a subdomain of my other site. I understand that this is possible but I'm not able to get it done.
My domain provider tells me I need to get an IP address from here so they can point to it but I don't know where to get that IP address.

What am I not doing right?

The IP of your server would be: 198.91.81.3

Discussed on IRC as well, but he left before I could give the IP :)

Ooops... didn't mean to walk out in the middle of the party. ;)

You mentioned on IRC that I needed to verify that I own the domain in order to set it up. Is there an alternate way that I could verify that other than setting the nameservers? Perhaps a text record? My domain provider is willing to do pretty much anything except moving nameservers.
Thanks!

It's not really verification of the domain that's the problem, but more that cPanel can't create a virtualhost for a domain that it doesn't have associated with an account.

There is always an option, but that would mean an admin needs to go in and manually set that domain as addon or parked domain in your account, after which it should be enough that you point an A record from the other host for that subdomain.
So in this case we need to know the domain, if you want it as parked or addon, and if the later if you already have a folder it should be pointed to or if the default (which would be creating a folder with the same name as the domain) should be used.

If you would be willing to do that, that would be great.

The domain is "grandvillebaptist.org". The subdomain will be "sportscamps.grandvillebaptist.org"
I have a folder in place at "home/grandvi2/public_html/sportscamps"

Please let me know if I've missed something. Thanks so much for your willingness to help!

All set this end, now you need to create the subdomain at your current host, if you haven't done so yet, and point an A record to the IP: 198.91.81.3

Once that is done it is just a matter of propagation, which can be anywhere from a few minutes to 48 hours (within the hour most commonly), before the domain is fully functional.
