Single Sign On (SSO) not propagating from DirectAdmin to Control Panel

The Single Sign On page (https://x10hosting.com/login) accepts my credentials correctly, and displays my Dashboard.
Clicking on "Hosting Control Panel" (or on the "[user]@[server]" button) does not go directly to Control Panel ({server].x10hosting.com:2222/) like it used to, but now displays a login screen for Control Panel (same url).
What changes do I need to make to adapt to the changes at X10 hosting?

Are you getting any error messages?

For my client account x13.x10 still redirects to hosting panel and login successful.

the main url https://x10hosting.com/login is the only one that counts your official login attempts..

note: the x12.x10hosting.com:2222/ is only the directadmin login

as far as i can tell the https://x12.x10hosting.com:2222/ link works fine from here.
if you have a issue with it you can try clearing cookies. or temp files on your device.
and try reloading the website again.

The redirect works fine.
However, I have to also login to Direct Admin, which previously was not necessary: the SSO signon carried through into Direct Admin.

What used to happen:
1. logon to SSO page and login
went straight to Direct Admin dashboard

The procedure now is:
1. logon to SSO page and login
2. page redirects to Direct Admin login
3. login to Direct Admin
goes to Direct Admin dashboard

What needs to be done?

It is possible that clearing cookies (especially ones related to x10hosting), and possibly also browser cache, could help with that problem, as I seen that it has solved such issues before.

Workstation has been rebooted several times, and cache gets cleared everytime browser is restarted.
However, I will try explicitly clearing the cache and cookies.

In the meantime, are there other possibilities that can be explored? As described in the original post, this used to work (as described by cytrd and spacerx), and stopped working some months ago (due to an update somwhere... my end? x10 end? figuring that out will take some effort, I agree)

Any more ideas? Cytrd: no, there are no error messages, just a new window opening after DirectAdmin that requires me to login to Control Panel (instead of just loading Control Panel, like it used to).

i dont think x10 uses an 'SSO' page anymore since shortly after implementing DirectAdmin..
when everyone had to change passwords to get access again,
they switched over to using the https://x10hosting.com/login instead.

the problem may be your browser or windows update related though.

however, the issue I am describing (and only seems to happen to me) remains:
https://x10hosting.com/login does not carry through to https://[server].x10hosting.com:2222/, and I have to login twice.

Or am I mistaken, and everybody has to login twice and is putting up with it?

i know with mine i log in to https://x10hosting.com/login (dashboard) control panel.
then click on the big green button that says 'hosting control panel'
the big green button would replace the https://[server].x10hosting.com:2222/
this is usually all the same login.

keep in mind the links can be used separately but its prefered to use the main https://x10hosting.com/login
as this link is the only link that will log your visit to avoid possible suspension.

you can also use the https://[server].x10hosting.com:2222/ link lets you sign in to the directadmin control panel.
but this link wont count your login for the 30 day login requirement to avoid suspension.

sometimes the servers mess up and need staff to recheck this,
if you think you need staff to revisit your post i can sent them a note.

Are you stating that when you click "Control panel" from your dashboard it does not automatically log you in? I was unable to reproduce this from our backend access.

Can you attempt to use a different browser and let us know the results? We had some reports with issues on FireFox.

When did Firefox start having issues?
Been using Firefox for decades; this problem started many months ago; and I admit that it was a few months before I started trying to solve the problem.

It seems my original post is missing information, so I will reiterate:
Step1: Logon to https://x10hosting.com/login
Step2: Enter credentials for that signon
Step3: Click on "Big Green Button" labeled "Control Panel"
Step4: Enter credentials for this signon
Step5: continue navigating the DirectAdmin Control Panel

IMNSHO, Step4 should not be necessary, and was not necessary even after the DirectAdmin changover. Then one day, it was necessary. <whining> I want to go back to the way it was <enough whining>
It seems I am the only one having this problem, so what is different about my login credentials? Is there a third party cookie involved? (I am not willing to blanket enable all 3rd party cookies, but specific 3rd party sites I can do, if I know what they are).

Dumb question**: do the credentials on https://x10hosting.com/login and [server].x10hosting.com:2222 (BigGreenButton) have to match?

**a) just occured to me; b) only dumb question is the one not asked (although some can be irritating ;) )

https://x10hosting.com/login should be the only link you need to login with.
[server].x10hosting.com:2222 is provided as a backup link to access directadmin.
(which is usually the same as the forum)

you can try allowing cookies from x10hosting.com as well as your website.
try different web browsers also as suggested by Eric..

I would check the username/password. Some how during the migration the URLs change, or firefoxes is not coping with the bootstrap vars javascript.

Same thing, different URLs

So my username/password for the logon is same for both URLs.

username: abcdefgh
passwd: ********

These are what x10hosting.com/panel has assigned for my account. The username for x10hosting.com/panel is my email address.

The panel has a bootstrap submit button. So if the submitted user/pass was wrong, I'd think a failed error would show on the logon screen. Since the service username can not be changed, compare it to what username you have been using to login at server:2222. .

OK. Sorry I have been away for so long. Grandson. Hopefully 'nuff said! :cool: :cool::cool:

Tried the login procedure (keeping my account active, and all that), and was able to login to the https://x10hosting.com/login page, using the credentials of my registered email address, (a change that started during the crossover from Cpanel to DirectAdmin). Noticed the change to the resulting page at https://x10hosting.com/panel/services/8171, and I think I like it.

Next, I click on "Hosting Control Panel" button (the blue one) which takes me to https://x12.x10hosting.com:2222/CMD_LOGIN, which I have been dealing with while whining about it :). But when I enter the credentials (that I have been using since 2008), the page just refreshes. No error message, no change password option, just endless loop.
As a test, I entered a "bad" password, and that time an error message that my credentials were incorrect showed. After that, I re-entered (what should be) the correct credentials and came back to the https://x12.x10hosting.com:2222/CMD_LOGIN page again, with credential boxes empty.

So we have gone from bad to worse.

Cytrd:
Both usernames and passwords have all worked until today. The original issue is the extra step that started sometime after the migration to DirectAdmin.

Today, only the DirectAdmin username/password works, and the Control Panel credentials do not work or generate a message, they just loop back to the login page.
This thread seemed similar https://community.x10hosting.com/threads/login-problem.210746/, except that I have not changed any passwords.

As far as I can tell, my account is in good standing?

OK, I will concede.
spacresx: I finally was able to try another browser (Falkon, if you are interested), and not only did the second site load, but I did NOT have to enter my (second) password.
So this looks like a Firefox issue, and not a X10 issue.

It is my hope that someday, in the future, there might be, a possibility, that maybe, there would be a chance, that you might consider, the potential, that there would be an inkling, that forgiveness could be entertained in the minds of those that contributed to my-little-problem.
(did I grovel enough? :) )
