Smoking in Public

I usually smoke, to be honest I smoke a lot, but I think smoking in public should be banned; I usually smoke when I am alone or when I am with smokers and always inside a house. I think we shouldn't bother anyone.

Smoking and non-smoking booths are really dumb like Koshimi said smoke can't read the signs.

Finally it would be great to have a drink with the same effect, but you know tobbaco and cigarretes companies won't let that happen.

Smoking in Public Places has recently been ban in Singapore. I have no gudge with smoker however as least smoke in the right place. Smoking in the lift where the area is so "BIG" doesn't seem to be the right place to smoke don't you guy think so. I believe Smoking should be ban in young-oriented place while giving smoker some small corner to do their stuff.

I've got mixed views on this.

Alot of my friends smoke, so I am really concerned about smoking in general, but as for smoking in private, as long as there arent any little kids forced to be there, smoking should be legal.

As for in public, no. This includes cars. Smoking smells bad and it makes people who dont like it miserable.

So yes in private, no in public.

Personally If people want to smoke/ slowly commit suicide fine. However Non-Smokers also have a right not to consume second hand smoke. If you want to smoke then be considerate and do it away from people who dont want your smoke.

Non Smoking and smoking sections in restraunts are stupid because as previous people have said smoke doesn't obey the signs. You might say don't bother eating there, but what about the employes?

in my country. they have several smoking room on the street corner and some other places. but still, people smoke everywhere they want. i think the government didnt apply these rules strictly. they just make the rules so everybody is happy. but the truth is, not.

i dont think they should allow smoking in public... but why does it matter.. even though i dont like when people do... they should be allowed to do those kind of stuff...

I think smoking should be allowed in certain places like concerts, bars and *ahem* gentlemen clubs. At a restaurant or other family friendly places, no you shouldn't smoke. As for smoking outside, as long as you're a decent distance away from someone, then I see no problem with it. A decent distance for me is something like 5-10 feet, depending on where the wind is blowing.

i dont know where all you guys are from, but in the uk, form december it will be illegal to smoke inside public places, but ok ourside, its like that in sctoland already and i think its great idea, alot of people get mouth/lounge cancer just from being near people who smoke, even if they dont smoke, and i dont think thats far at all.

I think smoking in public should not be allowed. My freinds used smoke around me, and one day I had to go to the docters for a check up and he said i had asthma from second hand smoke. Imagine that in public with at least 40+ people around you. (I said 40+ because I am in New York and its crowded with smokers here).

That is my opinon on this subject.

yeah, in alot of places its croweded, like in a bar, say there were 100 people 50/50 those 50 smokers could give those 50 nonsmokers asthma, like you said, it damages the health of the smoker and people around him, which aint afre at all

I think that it is wrong to smoke.For one thing,it affects 1's health.Secondly,when u smeke,u also cause people around you to have poor health.It should be banned

People talk about smokers' rights.

Here in the US, everyone is very aware and protective of their basic freedoms, like the freedom of speech.

But did you know that the second your words infringe upon the rights of someone else, you no longer have the freedom of speech?

So, what obvious conclusions can we make about smoking and smokers' rights?

Alright, I think we've beaten this dead horse of a thread for too long already. As we can all see and predict, the vast majority of people dislike smoking in public. However, there is always a group that protests that idea. Concluded.
