Ergh, I had an actual point with that post, I was just running out the door as I wrote it.
The car I drive was built in 1984, but in Texas, the insurance company gets to assign me as the primary driver of the newest car my family owns, so the insurance rates are something huge. I don't remember the exact figure.
The whole thing seems pretty stupid, but I guess if they didn't do that, people would cheat the insurance company by letting the kid drive the new car but paying the rates for the old car.
