The whole point of the restriction is to avoid becoming YouTube/Vimeo/Imgur/Flickr/etc. Not only does that vastly increase the hardware requirements, it comes with guaranteed copyright problems and the staff requirements to police them. Note that there aren't ads forced on you to pay for the administration. If you want or need more, there is a paid service available that does not have the restrictions, but that does make administering the system cost-effective.
