Why 'x10Hosting'?

Why not x9Hosting, x100Hosting and so on.

I admit 'x10Hosting' does have a slight ring to it and rolls off the tongue better.

hmm I have always thought x10hosting was a strange name to be honest.

Think about it, x10 is a home automation standard so to me x10hosting makes me think this site is about home automation

Let's see...
"x" has many meanings, depending on certain things.

Math: "x" is used for a sign for multiplication, (2x5=10, although "*" is used with computer languages and such) and used as a sign for an unknown value. (10=2+x)

Maps and such: "X" marks the spot.

Movie rating system: It's a sign for porn. (which was my first impression of the name "x10" before actually visiting the site. Sorry Corey.)

Roman number: X=10 (maybe....???)

That's all I can think of.

Good point. LIke oter people have said x100 or any other number after the x just does not sound right when you try to pronounce it.

Yeah, the camera ad thing is correct, it was in an interview back quite some time ago. 10 times happened to be the zoom or something and now we have x10Hosting.... works for me

I don't really think of "x10" as multiplication or roman numerals. I think that it's just supposed to be a name...

"exten" wouldn't make sense without a "d". Say "x10" and it'll make sense. (ecs•ten), (ecs•tend).

Wouldn't you want your webhost extended rather than 100, or 10? 100 is more like "You get 100 of everything (Megabytes disk space, Megabytes bandwidth, MySQL databases)". Even worse it 10 of everything, which is sounding like Geocities, or Freewebs...

An extended hosting service. ExtendedHosting.
ExtendHosting → ExtenHosting
ExtenHosting is easier to say than ExtendHosting, or ExtendedHosting.
People nowadays use the number form of a word, and compact text.
Ex → x
ten → 10
x10
x10Hosting
Hosting cannot be shortened anymore because it needs to represent that this service is for webhosting.
