    Concerns about wireless

Wi-Fi is in the radio spectrum. It's not infrared at all. I think you're thinking about those infrared ports that were on oldere laptops that ran at 28.8kbps link speeds. Now that is infrared. As per the hacker comment, if you're running a Wi-Fi router, you should be using WPA2 TKIP + AES. At...

why does my site time out every few minutes

It's been having it's occasional problems, but it's been fine in terms of uptime otherwise.

So I noticed my box was running a little warm...

Ah, so the RAM is running at 800Mhz tops (seems to be running more at 666Mhz). Higher clocked RAM does produce more heat, so that's some of the source of heat. Other sources would of course be the processor if it's loaded, as well as your video card if you have a GeForce/Radeon card. Those Intel...

    Concerns about wireless

The wireless transmissions that come from these devices shouldn't be affecting your health. I sit near many wireless devices on a regular basis (pretty much 24/7) and I'm perfectly healthy. Really, if you were to boost the power of all of those devices to equate that of the inside of a running...

What server are you on? Absolut has been having some problems as of late.

    SATA drive advice?

If you're installing Windows XP, yes you will have some trouble at first with the SATA drives as XP wasn't designed around the time of SATA drives being out and in majority of PCs (yes, funny thinking back to then when all you had were IDE/PATA drives. Gosh are those slow compared to today). If...

    Xp&vista

Windows Vista 2.0 is supposed to be Windows 7. I already have and am testing out 7 on my gaming machine via a Virtual machine, so I can't play games on Windows 7 (but I can at least launch them to see if they execute). As per Vista's compatibility issues, I've never come across one one bit. I'm...

    Absolute server sites

Here I use site-uptime.com . They right now state that my site has 94.22% uptime on Absolut. Absolut used to be one of the most stable servers here. Now it seems to be going down the path of acting like the old Stoli server back with Softlayer (I'm sure you guys remember that server, eh? :D).

    Will My Site SUCCEED?

A word on the ads: If you do place them, don't make them obtrusive to the site content. A lot of people suggest sticking with text ads as people tend to prefer them more. The pictures ads/flash roll over/javascript based ads are the ads people hate, and that's where Adblock Plus starts to do the...

    Thank You Christopher!

Christopher is probably one of the members that has been a part of the staff the longest (aside from Corey) from what I can tell. He does a great job though so congrats!

My site was down for much of the night last night as well. So it wasn't just you. cPanel/FTP/POP3 was fine though.

    MAJOR spam!

Last summer I reached over 200 posts in a single day. That itself was a true achievement :)

Not sure, but I'm pretty sure RapidShare does it based on the IP address more than cookies.

    unlock iPhone 3g

There are various sites around on the internet which would help you hack the iPhone to unlock it so that you may use SIM Cards in it. It has something to do with booting it into recovery mode, while having it plugged into your PC, where your PC is running a program to upload software to the...

So I noticed my box was running a little warm...

I can say that it's a pretty decent laptop. The information at the top is your processor information. It's name of course, it's Code Name which is basically like it's architecture design name, the Technology which is basically how small the chip is, Package is the kind of socket or "port" that...

So I noticed my box was running a little warm...

Your laptop isn't running a Celeron or a desktop based Pentium IV, is it? The newer laptops I've seen now a days with the Core 2 Duo/AMD Dual cores actually run quite cool and don't need that big of a fan.

So I noticed my box was running a little warm...

If the fan's not listed then it's probably not a controllable fan. I've seen a lot of OEM based PCs lately where they don't allow you to touch the fans as that's entirely controlled by the fan and motherboard itself. Older PCs? Sure, no problem, just as long as it was a high end one/one with a...

    Do you believe in God?

Y2K was a mess for a lot of people. I for one didn't have to worry about a thing. All of my hardware and software on my PCs from back then passed Y2K tests that I ran using a program I still have handy called Fix-it Utilities 2000 from Ontrack.

So I noticed my box was running a little warm...

Tornado? What tornado  (in all seriousness my area doesn't get tornadoes. The only things we get close to that are very weak funnel clouds, water spouts, and level 1 tornadoes that die after 5 seconds. Even so these only happen maybe once every 15-20 years or so). But the laptop running...
