Internet before or after ?
It probably was a good thing in terms of the stocks to see them just soar when the internet started to be used. However, I've only had Internet since '98 (dial-up days xD) and I've only had DSL since 2004 so I couldn't tell you much. -

If the system is for basic use, you can probably go with a mid range dual core with 2GB of RAM. For motherboards, you can look at MSI or Intel. It'll be good if the companies are indeed in a financially troubling situation, however if EA pushes their SecuROM/DRM crap onto the games like they've done to the rest of their games, it's only going to anger the PC market even more. -
