It will be a big jump, but there are many free hosts out there that are pretty good (not as good as us, ofc :P) that don't use CPanel. Could we make a test case, maybe have one free server without cpanel and see what happens?

The new server may not support the same version of mysql or even mysql at all, so it would be beneficial to use the phpmysql tool and make sure your data is compatible with the new server. I don't like the backup tool because it lacks options on what is backed up and how it is backed up.

If you look at the history of X10 adding new staff, it is pretty frequent, so it only helps you to wait the few extra months and up your experience, post count, age, etc :) There's always next time ;)

I think the <PHP> tags are the problem with this part.

Ha, glad to hear it! Google apps is absolutely terrific even if X10 was working flawlessly, so I think this is a good solution :)

Are you doing this through google apps? If that is the case, use the HTML file method. It is very quick and easy.
