Your current main domain is a .com domain. Those are not free, you would have to buy it from a domain registrar in order to use such a domain. If you have not bought the domain, it won't work, and I would then suggest you change back to using a subdomain that we offers freely.

How did you configure your domain at the domain registrar? FTP folder would not matter in the case of getting the site to work.

your cpanel username is the same as your forum username, and they *should* have the same passwords as well. You could try resetting the password through your account panel.

What error do you get from your ftp client, if any? Please post the full error.

If you by ftp password mean the automatic one with the same username as you have for cPanel, it should be the same password as you use for cPanel, account panel and forums. If you refer to an ftp account you created in cPanel, you can change the password in cPanel under ftp accounts.
