Loads up proper site for me. After adding a domain it does take a bit for the system to get updated and properly redirect the domain to its assigned folder. You might need to clear browser cache or flush dns cache to get it to show properly if you recently viewed the incorrect page.

Your account will not be forced to use the new plan, you can keep the same as you have now if you like. You can always chose to delete what you have in your account, as long as you do not delete the files that were there by default.

If the connection is completely lost, it would appear as the database is deleted, simply because cPanel does not see the databases on the remote mysql server anymore.

That does sound more like a cookie issue then a database issue.
