The ad plan you are on require you to use the "Corporate" ad code. The ad code you mentioned can be added as well, but you must keep the corporate ad code on all pages.

Yes you can place your own ads on the site as well as the required x10 ad. I am not sure why the other js version doesn't work. The change you made allowed the ad to work.
