Linux Command Line and Permissions Question

From a quick search it appears umask is similar to an inverse chmod. i.e A Chmod of 777 is a umask of 000. In your case, umask 731 is equivalent to chmod 046.

    mySql : Select into file

Dumping of SQL databases is not available on X10 hosting judging from the tests I have tried. I would suggest PHPMyBackupPro as a better alternative that does essentially the same thing.

    Help with an app idea

You don't need to download the developer tools, they should be an optional install on your OS X disk. You will need to install the developer tools anyway if you want to make a widget without coding every single bit by hand, which really isn't worth it when you can install Dashcode. If you want...

    Help with an app idea

Widgets are a really good way of getting to grips with the Mac development tools and they are surprisingly versatile. Applescript is something that can also be used in Xcode, but I wouldn't recommend it (I once wrote a whole app in Applescript, not fun). Cocoa still messes with my mind though...

What should be the minimum connection speed to host my site at home

It is possible the ISP will ping its customers on port 80 at certain intervals and see if it gets a response. It is also possible that they can monitor accounts for large amounts of data being transferred on port 80 upload. Or they could look at DNS records to see any that contain one of their...

What should be the minimum connection speed to host my site at home

Be careful if it is copyrighted data as hosting it on the web publicly would count as distribution. I would recommend passwords for access as a minimum requirement and I am still dubious about the legality.

how do i edit every page at once

If you use PHP pages you could use an include to have one file for the header or whatever. However, this would mean adding it to every page first. It depends how many times you expect to have to change them all.

What should be the minimum connection speed to host my site at home

Basically, your upload speed has to be roughly equivalent to your user's download speed if you really want your site to be responsive. I would recommend having it a little bit larger if you are expecting multiple simultaneous connections. You will also have to watch your bandwidth usage, as...

No cpanel access; webpage uses outdated file

cPanel on our subdomains denies any combination of usernames and passwords. Same goes for FTP. It would appear cPanel has forgotten all of our usernames and passwords.

No cpanel access; webpage uses outdated file

I am on Lotus too and I am experiencing almost identical issues. It seems to be caused by there being two servers for Lotus whilst one is being transferred to the other. Basically, you are editing your files on the old server that is no longer live to public access.
