No. I've asked to be put on Starka beofre, but was told that x10 do not transfer accounts between servers. The only way would be to make a load of hosting accounts, and use the one that was put on the server which suited you-but that's a rather large breech of the TOS lol.

cPanel has been up and down for the last hour on Chopin-you could have loaded the page when it was up. Note: you can only get new data every 5 minutes on that page. cPanel is a subsiduary of http, so depending on the way you access it, you could get problems. Also, when http is down, everyone...

Uptime is really quite good on free, but it depends on your server-some are more tempremental than others. I'm on Lotus, which I understand is about average. Starka and Stoli are supposed to be very reliable. Chopin is supposed to be below average. So, its a matter of luck really. :)

Thanks for everyone who gave a straigt answer, insted of criticising my options :) Personally, I find Linux nice, as you can pick a distro based on your needs. On the other hand, I like windows because of its compatability and the fact that everyone knows it. I dislike mac-no particular reason :)

In my eyes, the daily running of the site is more reliant on databases for important data and articles, threads etc. Speed up, and daily MySQL backup, monthly data. Sound great to me! :) After all, we are supposed to be responsible for our own backing up. :)

I don't think x10 monitor IP address logins like law lol. As leafypiggy said, you are two different people, so another account should be fine. It would be difficult to moderate by IP address becuase people use shared computer/internet connections (like in your case) or in a library for example...

http is down on Chopin at the moment. That is what would be causing your slowness problem. I have an intermittant MySQL problem with phpBB too, and I'm on Lotus. It's stopped now though, since the upgrades finished. Give it a few days, and see if it improves. Hope this helps :)

It is handy, but can only be refreshed every 5 minutes with new data, so if you load the page at 13:00, it will be 13:05 before any new data is displayed. :)

As has been said, ensure you log in to the FORUMS every 31 days to keep your account active. Note: when unsuspending, log into the forums first, then unsuspend, or you will immediately be reinserted into the suspensions queue, as you would still show as not having logged in. Hope this helps :)

Ensure that you give a MySQL user the appropriate privelages for what you want to do-or it will not work and give you error messages.

As Livewire said, the firewall blocks external connection for security reasons. I had this problem too initially, but got around it by changing my system to a CMS, which is pretty good at managing my site. You could consider this, even though it's not ideal .:)
