    Make sure the path is correct. Then, you can try accessing it directly to make sure it's accessible. Also, note that extensions are case sensitive. JPG is not the same as jpg.

    I have used google apps and it is very easy and has a lot of features. You're right about not being able to turn off ASSP, I can't find any way to really modify it, except for checking the junk mail logs daily and adding exceptions.

    True, but there is always js getElementsByName() which works just as well. My issue with id is this error, which is hard to track down, and it doesn't necessarily add anything at all to your code.

    Are you using a board dependent on htaccess? I believe the default htaccess file is blank and can be deleted. Also, uploads are not blocked/enabled by htaccess, this only controls http requests and not ftp, CPanel, etc.
